Receptive Ecumenism: The Role of the Spirit in New Ecumenical Endeavours

How can we understand the promotion of unity among today’s divided Christians? Amid the apparent stalling progress of ecumenism, is there a future for a full, visible communion? Receptive ecumenism provides a way forward, allowing churches to receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit from one another in this present stage of unity. 

Dr. Paul Murray of the Centre for Catholic Studies at Durham University, in England, will lead an online conversation on the significance of receptive ecumenism, its foundations and the unique opportunity it presents for new ecumenical endeavors. The focus of this conversation will be on the relationship between receptive ecclesial learning and the work of the Spirit within this process, with attention given of the relationship between Catholics and those from the Evangelical and Pentecostal streams of Christianity.
